Do you want to help us build the DNA of tech?  Vishay, Yankton, SD, is currently seeking a full-time Senior Design Engineer responsible for performing Magnetics design focused on custom transformers, inductors and coils used in aerospace, industrial military, medical, rest equipment, and automotive.  Work directly with development of custom magnetics by providing technical leadership in areas of electrical, mechanical, thermal and safety agency requirements.

Job Location:

This position is located on-site Yankton, SD.  We are situated in Southeast South Dakota: on the banks of the Missouri River and minutes from Lewis and Clark Lake where you can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities.

What you will be doing:

  • Work directly with customers to complete magnetics design for target applications. During the design process the engineer will effectively apply knowledge of materials, equipment, and production processes to ensure a quality product which meets or exceeds the customer’s needs or expectations for reliability, performance, cost, or other critical factors.
  • Independently performs complex engineering work where others may lack the experience or knowledge to bring about satisfactory completion.  Performs engineering work under special circumstances where others may have placed the company in jeopardy or where tact, assertiveness, or extreme care in handling is necessary to prevent irreparable damage to the business of the company.
  • Directs Technicians or production personal in completion of sample builds, qualification builds, evaluation of materials and processes to be employed in new product design. 
  • Maintains knowledge of the competitive status in the field for the group’s products and of other products that may be of interest to the division.  Responsible for distribution of pertinent information to all areas that might benefit from the knowledge gained. 
  • May be called upon to travel to customers, other manufacturing locations, material, and equipment suppliers.

What you will bring along:

  • Requires 10+ years progressive experience as a design engineer in magnetics and/or Switch mode power supply design.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Must be a US person due to ITAR product restrictions.
