Operator 3 - Laser Spiral (Nights)

Vishay Dale in Columbus, NE is currently seeking a full-time Laser Spiral Operator responsible for performing set-up and laser spiral Film resistors to final values suing Dual Head or Tray Fed laser equipment.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Powers up laser and control console and makes sure vacuum pump is operating.
  • Receives production orders from Material Handler or staging shelf.
  • Set-up procedures: Scans production card into SPC program to receive spiral point.  
  • Enters proper resistance value on decade controls and adds single layer of parts to bowl.  
  • Set machine speed (not to exceed maximum machine speed as called out in spec), sets scan and spindle speeds from amp factor on production card or figure amp factor.  
  • Pulls SPC sample and performs measurements, entering data in SPC program.  
  • Visually inspects laser cut for all quality requirements.  Makes necessary adjustments in scan speed, spindle speed and power (Variac controls) to meet quality requirements as called out in specifications.  
  • Once satisfied with setup - processes the order.  
  • Continually monitoring the order while processing.  
  • Makes any necessary adjustments to insure quality conforms to the specifications. 
  • Continues loading and unloading parts until order is complete. 
  • Removes finished parts from either rear of machine (tray fed) or catch totes or tubes (dual heads).  Empties scrap totes.
  • Operator conforms to DPS-1595, DPS-1601 and appropriate DES.
  • Signs off production card, circling good quantity and enter 3 position into prod-info system – cleans machines of parts/paperwork after completion of each order.
  • Sets order aside for Material Handler to take to next operation.
  • Maybe assigned/cross trained at other jobs.
  • Equipment Utilization:  Works with various hand tools, magnifying scopes and bridges.
  • Must be on feet entire shift. 

  • Works in busy production environment, operating up to 4 laser machines at the same time. 

  • May be subject at times to noise and varying lighting levels.

  • Operator required to be trained on a minimum of 4 laser machines.  

  • Operator must follow specs very closely. 



High school diploma or equivalent

Must be able to read and follow specifications, collect and enter SPC data to SPC program.  
Strong math skills are desired.
