Where You'll Work & The Scope:
Vishay, Yankton, South Dakota, is currently seeking a Full time Component Engineer responsible for performing mechanical design engineering functions primarily of custom components, from design inception to finished product, including verification activities to assure readiness for production. SolidWorks used for modeling software.
How You'll Help Us Build The DNA of Tech:
- Works with technical resources (from suppliers, industry standards,customers and within Vishay), to gather needed inputs and generate custom component designs for one or several routine to moderately complex projects. Requires understanding of how said designs interact with peripheral components and affect overall system design outputs
- Works with Vishay Design and Process Engineering to plan and in some cases execute applicable validation activities on said designs. Including but not limited to reliability testing, FAI inspection, etc.
- Fabricates or directs technicians in the fabrication of prototype models for test purposes. Redesigns any components as necessary following test procedures to meet performance specifications. Maintains adequate documentation to provide product history and any other pertinent information necessary for the design and production of assigned products.
- Recommends improvements, modifications and possible new design concepts to Product Design Engineering. Performs design of simple to moderately complex test equipment jigs, fixtures, tools, etc.
- Programs and executes routines on Computer Measuring Machines (CMM) for validation of product design, including streaming point cloud data to Smart Profile GD&T software for analysis of performance against GD&T requirements
- Regularly works with customers and suppliers regarding product design, specifications, materials, and manufacturing capabilities.
Experience You'll Need:
- Three to five years Solid Modeling experience in a technical related area is desirable.
- A high level of mechanical aptitude and ability to translate design ideas to useable specifications is required.
- Must be able to work independently to develop or manage complex projects.
- The ability to work effectively as a team member and/or project leader is required.
- A high degree of customer service orientation is required.
- Must be a US citizen due to ITAR product restrictions
- Experience with Military product standards a plus
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or its equivalent.
