Vishay Siliconix, a leader in the development of power semiconductor products which improves efficiency in electronic systems for consumer, industrial, automotive, medical, and military applications, is currently seeking a Vice President Quality.  This position will be located in San Jose, California.

 

As Vice President of Quality you will be responsible for all operations associated with the organization's total quality management (TQM) plan.  Set the strategy to develop, implement, and maintain technical quality assurance and quality control systems.  Handles the investigative team for highly complex customer issues. Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products.  Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations.  Directs the assistance of product support areas in gathering and analyzing data.  Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements initiatives aimed at improving the quality of organizational products, processes, and services including TQM and quality systems. 
  • Handles key customers and sets forth annual plan to achieve quality standards, systems and objectives utilizing appropriate procedures and cost savings methods.
  • Sets organizational directives and subsequently ensures that TQM plans adhere to them.
  • Usually has familiarity with and implements Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, ISO and similar principles or standards.
  • Uses internally provided analysis to evaluate the productivity and efficiency of existing procedures.
  • Approves headcount, budgets and capital expenditures as set by top organizational level.
  • Selects appropriate subordinate Quality management group to ensure smooth coverage of Quality function.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees. Supervision is often provided through a team of subordinate managers and directors.
  • Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
  • Responsible for aligning departmental strategy or direction with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Develops policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization.

 

Education/Training/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent management experience. MBA preferred.
  • 20 years’ experience in Quality with significant experience at top organizational level.
  • Multi-site experience required; global experience a plus
  • Solid experience in direct material strategic sourcing (preferably electronics). Highly results-oriented and focused on business priorities with a successful record of accomplishments.

 

Computer Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills – able to identify problems and/or opportunities for improvement and assesses viable solutions. Develop and execute comprehensive action plans.
