Sr Manufacturing Engineer or Supv Manufacturing Engineering

Vishay Intertechnology, a global industry leader in the manufacturing of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components for applications in industrial, communications, transportation, consumer, medical, and defense products is currently seeking a Sr Manufacturing Engineer or Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor in our Ontario, California location. 

 

In this positon, Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for the management of Equipment maintenance, Equipment development, Electronic equipment development, Electronic maintenance for the Mexicali and Ontario facilities. Is the primary Engineer or Liaison to the Mexicali operations. Controls processes in Mexicali and Ontario. Manages the manufacturing cost. Determines and implements tooling and equipment for effective and efficient methods of assembly. Manages and trains Mexicali Engineers to assure the processes in the factory are efficient and product is built in good quality, good processes, good documentation, and with good yields. Implements proactive activities to minimize problems. Travels to Mexicali a minimum of 2 days per month.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Troubleshoots manufacturing problems in Mexicali and Ontario. (Scrap, Yield, Efficiency, Quality, other)
  • Oversees the areas of Equipment maintenance in Mexicali and Ontario 
  • Provides disposition of discrepant parts and works with supplier to correct issues.
  • Conceives and implements cost reduction projects
  • Improves Mexicali and Ontario factory performance by improving efficiency, increasing output, reducing cycle time, setup time, downtime, eliminating que, and improving yields
  • Control of all processes in Mexicali and Ontario. Assure assembly personnel are using the Engineering documentation, Correct tooling and Equipment and workstations are clean, organized and in good control. Validate all tooling is qualified.  
  • E.H.S. duties include safeguarding, lockout tagout, and facilities improvements relating to compliance, safety, Ergonomics, and environment.
  • Performs Liaison work between Ontario and Mexicali
  • Control all Tooling, Equipment, and Assets. Manage the system to assure tooling is registered, identified, and on asset list if appropriate. Assigns and approves all tool fabrication and designs. May design simple tools.
  • Responsible for redlining, updating and writing some assembly instructions, Engineering specifications, travelers, and Operational procedures for formalization by the Engineering department.
  • Coordinates with internal/External suppliers for the development, fabrication or repair of Assembly Equipment, tooling, or facilities items including molds and dies.
  • Coordinates with suppliers for the tooling repairs of Molds and Dies. Prepares budget for such tooling repairs and determines if new tooling is needed.
  • Determines and specifies production methods, sequence, tooling and equipment for manufacturing operations. Responsible for maintaining Labor standards. Performs Time studies. Estimates labor standards for new products or value added processes.
  • Prepares Tooling, Maintenance and CAPEX budget, including Molds & Dies. Writing justifications and performs R.O.I. calculations. Executes the implementation of Tooling expenditures.
  • Travel to Mexicali to oversee operations 2X per month or as necessary for the support of the factory and Engineers
  •  Performs all the necessary “Government Customs” work required in permitting tooling, materials, and supplies to Mexicali.
  • Special projects and assignments including administrative duties. Monthly Manufacturing Engineering operations report for Ontario and Mexicali and monthly meetings, Performance reviews.

 

Position Requirements:

  • 10 years related experience in Manufacturing Engineering disciplines.
  • Support in an offshore facilities is a plus.
  • Speaking Spanish is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
  • Good communication skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • Good management skills
