Custom Assembly Operator

Vishay Intertechnology, a global industry leader in the manufacturing of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components for applications in industrial, communications, transportation, consumer, medical, and defense products is currently seeking a Custom Assembly Operator in our Ontario, California location.  This is a temporary full time to possible regular full time positon. 

 

In this positon, the Custom Assembly Operator will be responsible for performing assembly work requiring assembly skills and technical knowledge of all operations involving bench top equipment and microscope assembly processes for the manufacture of potentiometers in the Assembly lines assigned. Operations are those which include multiple task micro assembly.  Will perform multiple operations daily and will also test units to verify product is built to specifications.  Must work to drawings and demonstrated methods for the assembly of potentiometers. Will have primary functions but will float to assigned operations as necessary.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • May perform Coil Operations such as Inserting, straightening, cutting, peeling, trimming, measuring, reworking, polishing, welding, soldering, file, fitting, and bridging to tight tolerances.
  • May performs assembly processes such as staking, crimping, pressing, drilling, epoxying, marking, washing, lubing, cutting wire, and solder dipping.
  • May perform resistance welding on potentiometer components for the manufacture of final assembly units.
  • May perform assembly processes sometimes under microscope involving subminiature components or complete assemblies.
  • May performs assembly processes such as electrical Tap, solder short, bridging coils, rotor assemblies, epoxy weighing, resistance welding and soldering.
  • May perform test processes such as resistance, insulation resistance, linearity, noise, endplay, torque, and mechanical measurements using drop gauge, Calipers, force gauge, and scales

Position Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform a majority of operations in the manufacture of custom potentiometers while meeting labor standards.  Ability to read, interprets, and follows engineering drawings and specifications.  Must be able to utilize inspection gauges, tools and electronics test equipment.  Capable of leading and training operators in the processes assigned.  Must have good written and communication skills. Ability to read and use decimals, fractions and percentages.  Demonstrated knowledge, aptitude and manual coordination.
  • Ideal candidate will have at least a high school degree with some college preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of routine assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to details. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
