Process Eng'g Tech 3

Vishay in Niagara Falls, NY is hiring for an Engineering Tech position, responsible for monitoring processes, evaluating materials, fabricating prototypes, specials and other products / processes that cannot be produced on the main production lines, under the guidance of the Department Supervisor and /or Process  Engineers.  This position will assist Engineering, maintenance, and production with process/equipment modifications or improvements, as well as material adaptability and performance.   This position will also assist and perform production functions which may fall outside the roles of maintenance or production personnel such as time studies, training documents, calibrations, and special tests.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • With minimal direction from supervisor or engineering, builds custom samples and prototypes for evaluation.
  • Performs special testing of products as necessary.
  • Determines specific product requirements from VTF specifications, supervisor, material handler or engineer.
  • Following Engineering or Production direction, perform and / or assist with process/equipment / material debug and changeovers

 

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Technical field or equivalent experience required desirable.
  • At least two years experience in a similar position desirable.
  • Familiar with MS Office applications, Word and Excel at a minimum.
  • Eye-hand coordination and good manual dexterity in order to accurately process the small parts manufactured.  
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in order to work in harmony with line workers, Supervisor and Engineers. 
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail in order to accurately perform duties in the manufacture of small, close tolerance parts. 
  • Organizational skills in order to organize workstation in an efficient manner. 
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions in order to take work direction an accurately manufacture products where no formal assembly document is available in many cases. 
  • Ability to read and write in order to read and understand company documents and in some cases assist in the writing of company documents. 
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in order to accurately figure production numbers.
