Mgr Operations Plant

Vishay Thin Film, Niagara Falls, NY is currently seeking a Full Time Plant Manager responsible for managing the short and long-range strategic planning process for operations by overseeing one or all of the following: manufacturing operations, including manufacturing itself, production control, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, inventory control, potential materials functions, such as purchasing, and shipping/receiving activities. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products.  Creates operations-related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures. Maintains safety and regulatory compliance relating to the production facility.  In conjunction with staff managers of Accounting, Manufacturing, Planning/Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Facilities Maintenance& EHS and Sales establish objectives for continual improvement in the areas of inventory reduction, scrap reduction, productivity, equipment utilization and capacity.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively manages the overall Continual Improvement Effort and initiates activities in operations/manufacturing to meet company goals in EHS, Quality, Cost and Delivery
  • Attends peer group meetings and carries out plan to achieve cost savings objectives, headcount planning, etc.  Negotiates contracts as necessary with outside vendors. Meets regularly with staff for updates
  • Within position scope, approves budgets and capital expenditures as set by top organizational level. Quantify expected ROI and report achieved results
  • Selects appropriate subordinate group to ensure smooth company operations and works with them to optimize company profitability and provides training as appropriate. With the Production Manager and the Production Supervision ensures that clear concise work instruction, adequate training and proper tools are provide to the direct labor staff to maximize productivity and efficiency to achieve planned labor expense and achieve the financial objectives of the company
  • Supports Human Resources in maintaining an open line of communication with both exempt and non-exempt employees. Work with Human Resources to administer company policies in a fair and consistent manner.  Works to ensure appropriate levels of staffing throughout organization
  • In conjunction with the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor ensure compliance to all Federal, State and Local environmental and safety regulations



  • 10 years experience in operations environment with significant manufacturing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
