Process Engineer

Vishay Applied Thin-Film Products, in Fremont, California is currently seeking a full-time Process Engineer, responsible for supporting the engineering function; plans and conducts activities concerned with engineering, manufacturing processes, materials, and products.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during engineering activities and provides recommended process improvements to management
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during engineering activities
  • Perform failure analysis on customer returned products (RMA), identifies root causes for failures and provides effective corrective actions for prevention of future customer failures
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in engineering activities
  • Works closely with Quality Engineering in application of statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process controls and effectiveness of process changes
  • Troubleshooting and ensuring processes stay optimal, conducting experimentation for process development and improvement
  • Providing technical support for both customers and internal operational issues
  • May be required to perform other duties



  • BS Engineering, Chemical preferred
  • 2+ years’ of work experience in manufacturing as a process engineer
  • Minimum of 5 years with thin-film and/or photolithography, chemistry and material science background
  • Electrolytic plating experience (gold-rare metals preferred)
  • Ability to identify, analyze and investigate root-cause process failures
  • Problem-solver who can be resourceful, analytical, and take a solution-focused approach to problems situations
  • Service-oriented individual who can deliver courteous, responsive, helpful internal and external customer service
  • Good organizational skills in an individual who is detail oriented and can coordinate multiple activities and projects in an efficient manner
  • Proficient in English. Must have good English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
  • Able to prioritize job flows, schedule and manage time efficiently
  • Strong problem solving and multi-tasking abilities required
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with constant change
  • Prior experience working for ISO 9000 certified company
