CAD Mechanical Engineer

Where You'll Work & The Scope:

Vishay Applied Thin-Film Products in Fremont, California is currently seeking a full-time CAD Mechanical Engineer responsible for the creation of new documents, development of new procedures and use AutoCAD and SolidWorks to support the Document Control and CAD team.  Problem solving area issues and determining root causes.

 

How You'll Help Us Build the DNA of Tech:

  • Work with the DC CAD manager to update and create work instructions and procedures using Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD and Solidworks.  Build documentation using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD and PDF software.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the responsibilities and roles of technical review, document control and CAD.
  • Work with marketing, customer service, document control and CAD to identify and resolve documentation-related process issues or discrepancies.
  • Use AutoCAD to verify customer supplied-data and build basic arrays using customer-supplied AutoCAD data.  Convert GDS, Gerber and various other file types to .dwg and .dxf files for the mask-making CAD team.
  • Build documentation using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD and PDF software.
  • Build routing BOM using custom templates in (Epicor).
  • Follow flow diagrams to create basic process coding for manufacturing.
  • Update previously-released documentation.
  • Tolerance and dimensional review of customer prints and AutoCAD files.
  • Maintain revision and iteration part control records to ensure compliance to customer requirements and to document historical change information.
  • Going through the process flow and improving travelers and feedback on process flow.
  • Help engineering structure Z Codes.
  • May be required to perform other duties

 

Experience You'll Need:

  • Bachelor degree or technical degree, preferably mechanical in nature
  • Strong AutoCAD and SolidWorks skills
  • Manufacturing and process experience, preferably in semi-conductor or RF
  • Direct experience working with blueprints /technical or manufacturing prints
  • Strong command of tolerance and unit conversion
  • Familiar with ASME Y.14 drafting rules
  • Familiar with document control systems and methods; vaults, iteration control, released drawings
  • Computer literate in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks           
  • Excellent English communication skills: both written and verbal
  • Must be able to follow instructions as well as work independently
  • Must be able to analyze, problem solve and determine root cause and create a solution or plan for change
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people and customers and who builds good working relationship
  • Problem solver who can resolve problems with both external and internal customers
  • Detail-oriented, high level of accuracy, work must be consistently mistake-free
  • Able to prioritize job flows, schedule and manage time efficiently, delivers on action items without prompting and communicates to team in a timely manner
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new assignments
