Tech 2 - Production Tech 2

Vishay Columbus Nebraska, is currently seeking a full time Production Technician 2. responsible for  Assisting Production Management in conducting work assignments to enable efficient production on design evaluation and materials evaluation.  This includes maintenance of the process as well as continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs production work as needed or assigned by Production Supervisor.  Includes building prototype production parts under Engineering supervision.
  • Performs simple machine maintenance or adjustments as required.
  • Assists supervisor in the training and performance of individual operations to maintain a high level of production and quality.
  • Assists in insuring the processing of all parts and orders are performed in accordance with Vishay Dale specifications and Vishay Dale Quality Control requirements.
  • Surveys material needs of production line and schedules pick-up from stockroom or draws material from stock.  Prepares material if necessary and furnishes material to operators within the department.
  • Performs test using complex equipment on prototype or pre-production units.
  • The technician will interface with production, the maintenance department and material handlers to maintain a high degree of quality and uptime.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities
  • Inspects all equipment within department or area to insure its satisfactory condition in regard to production safety.
  • Reports to supervisor any problems of difficulties encountered by the production operators in their operation, materials or equipment.
  • Responsible for quality in assigned area and makes adjustments or recommends corrective action as needed to meet line standards.
  • Performs evaluation of materials, processes or designs as specified by production and makes recommendations as to action to be taken.
  • May occasionally assist engineers in keeping drawings up-to-date, which includes; writing UECN, DPS, DTS, flow charts and other documentation and making sketches of equipment, jigs and fixtures.
  • Maintains, repairs and calibrates equipment.
  • May fabricate complex prototype units.
  • May at times perform special tasks or duties as directed by the Department Supervisor.
  • Equipment Utilization: Inspects equipment within the designated area to insure satisfactory condition in regard to production safety.  Makes recommendation to maintenance department for replacement or repair of worn mechanical machine components to be corrected during preventative maintenance.  Able to use all basic machine shop and hand tools.
  • Ensure a high degree of quality in all finished product.  Will seek to optimize production through the use of designated experiments, SPC and other manufacturing tools.
  • Engaged in the Division’s Continuous Improvement Lean program, by providing evidence through the use either the JM (Job Method), 5s Audits, improvement on 8 types of waste.



May require an associate’s degree in a technical or scientific field or equivalent.  Sufficient work experience may be substituted for education requirement. Must satisfactorily complete RCDRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) training annually if required to work around chemicals.   To maximize efficiency, a technician will need to have a working knowledge of all production operations in the department.  Experience of two years to three years in manufacturing and/or engineering.
