Production Technician 4

Vishay Dale in Columbus, NE is currently seeking a full-time Production Technician responsible for printing multiple-layer Thick Film inks using assigned screen printing machine. Visuals product, does in process inspection, and assists in the firing of plasma product. May assist in Networks as demand dictates.  Assists the Supervisor in increasing line efficiency, assisting in the training of new employees, managing orders through the line in proper sequence. Directs production floor in Supervisors absence. Works closely with production and Engineering.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understands all processes and specifications within the department and reports to Supervisor any discrepancies in line specifications.
  • Assists Supervisor in managing the line flow of orders.  Reports any excessive work banks at line positions to Supervisor.
  • Assists Supervisor in the instruction and training of line workers, monitors worker's technique and makes recommendations for improvement.  Reports to Supervisor any problems or difficulties encountered by the production workers in their operation, materials or equipment.
  • Arranges and sets-up variables such as location pins, vacuum holes, snap-off indicators and flood bar on the printing table to accommodate each individual order. Uses machine adjustments and Comparator to achieve alignments. Prints orders as required.
  • Repairs defects in the print using an exacto knife , needle and the respective ink.
  • Places substrates to be fired, printed side up on clean boats with long dimension running parallel to the belt direction. When units emerge from exit end of kiln, remove them, stacking substrates, covers on clean trays, printed side up making sure no two are touching.
  • Inspects printed inks for clear, defined line segments without separation or shorted line segments. Inspects each print using a 10X microscope or a 4X magnifying lens.
  • Brings to the Supervisor's attention any questions, misunderstandings or problems of line personnel.
  • Answers routine questions of line workers regarding company policies, procedures, benefits or programs and refers other than routine questions to the Supervisor or to Personnel.
  • Performs tasks assigned by the Supervisor that are unique to a specific line or are required due to a special situation. (Examples may be setting up machines, checking subassemblies, taking inventory.)
  • Various hand tools, computers and manufacturing equipment, such as screen printers and  test equipment, etc.

 

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Three months to one year experience required. 

Thorough knowledge of all line equipment, processes and materials.  Good interpersonal and communication skills in order to work in harmony with all line workers, Supervisor and support people.  Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail in order to insure that such things as the correct product is being manufactured in the required quantities and other correct materials are being used.  Good organizational skills in order to monitor and control a variety of different line activities at the same time.  Ability to understand verbal instructions from Supervisor in order to accurately adjusts to changing line/product/customer requirements.

Initial hazardous waste management procedures (RCRA) training within six months of the appointment of  position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter.Initial emergency contingency plan implementation training within six months of the appointment of  position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter.
