Process Engineer

Vishay Dale in Columbus, NE is currently seeking a full time Process Engineer to join the New Product Development team. This team member will be the project leader responsible for working with production, purchasing, sales, marketing, customers, and research and development to bring new products and projects from inception to full scale production within generally established engineering and manufacturing parameters.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project Lead for the development of new Products and/or Processes.
  • Performs or directs Technicians in the evaluation of materials and processes to be used in any project design or second source projects. 
  • Determines parts fabrication procedures and basic processes to ensure that the design is producible as stated.
  • Customer support including 8D corrective actions, product design, specifications, quotes, materials, manufacturing controls design, testing, and engineering production responsibility for one or several routine to moderately complex projects.
  • Fabricates or directs technicians in the fabrication of prototype models for test purposes.  
  • Redesigns any components as necessary following test procedures to meet performance specifications.  
  • Updates and improves process documentation in cooperation with the drafting department.  
  • Maintains adequate documentation to provide product history and any other pertinent information necessary for the design and production of assigned products.
  • Recommends improvements, modifications and possible new design of production equipment to immediate supervisor.
  • Handles line checkout and safe launch of new equipment.  
  • Serves in a consulting capacity with regard to trouble shooting of prototype or production equipment.
  • Closely examines production methods, materials, and facilities, constantly seeking out areas of improvement, and initiates any necessary action with vendors and internal Vishay departments to bring about identified product improvements. 
  • Regularly works with customers regarding product design, specifications, quotes, materials, manufacturing capabilities and corrective actions.
  • May work directly with internal test lab to improve product testing capabilities.
  • May be called upon to re-evaluate and redesign specific products for advancement beyond customer or military specification requirements.
  • May be required to travel to discuss customer problems involving assigned product or to investigate product-related problems in the field.
  • Responsible for the accomplishment of several routine to moderately complex product or process engineering projects and for providing advice and direction to less experienced Engineers and Technicians.  May be responsible for directing the accomplishment of projects involving the investment of $50 - $1,000,000.

 

Requirements:

B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

A strong aptitude for systematic project management is highly desired.

A high level of mechanical aptitude and ability to translate design ideas to usable specifications is required.

The ability to work effectively as a team member and/or leader.

A high degree of customer service orientation is required.

Experience with Quality systems competences such as IATF-16949, ISO90001 desirable.

Competence in quality tool systems such as DFMEA, PFMEA, CP, PFC and SPC is desirable.

Two years experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
