Operator 4 - Experienced Manufacturing Operator

Vishay Dale in Columbus, NE is currently seeking a full-time E-Beam Welding Operator responsible for operating all types of production machines such as different types of e-beam welders, punch presses and feed systems, 4 slide machines, cut-off saws, deburring machines, drill presses and lathes to produce production materials and parts of various metals to include steel, aluminum copper and other resistive materials, as well as some non-metallic materials.


Primary Responsibilies: 

  • Receives work assignments in the form of blueprint, technical specification, sketch or drawing from Supervisor / Production Coordinator as to type of parts that are to be produced. May consult with Supervisor / Coordinator regarding completeness of the specifications, prints, or sketches and to set up proper tooling, stock feeders, or whatever required for proper machine to produce part. 
  • Set-up welder or stamping line per specifications and ensures all raw materials are present and correct. When appropriate notify die makers / technicians of the set-up required for the product you will be running. This may involve the use of any or all the equipment described above.
  • At completion of set-up, run an appropriate sample and ensure inspection is performed as required by the appropriate specification. Run the welder or stamping press and continue to inspect and monitor throughout the assigned order. 
  • Loads coil stock material onto de-reeler and starts coil stock into welder or dies at proper place as to insure proper tool care
  • Loads material onto stock feeder reel. When lead frame parts are made, and parts are put onto take-up reels with interleave paper.
  • Ensure all finished stock is properly packaged labeled and ultimately packaged and ready to send to your customer, after Quality acceptance.
  • A qualified operator is a collateral inspector, if assigned to lead-frame production lines. 
  • Must be or become a qualified Forklift operator
  • Disperses material from stock as required.
  • Maintains continuous visual inspection for imperfect parts and intermittently makes inspections of parts using micrometer, calipers, or inspection gauges, measuring microscopes and optical comparator Ensures all materials and tools are used effectively.
  • Provides and maintains scrap control.
  • Identifies to Supervisor or Lead-person any specification, equipment, or material shortcomings.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.
  • Equipment utilization: Use of machine tools to include welder, lathe, high-speed punch press, cut-off saws, de-burring equipment, drill presses and other associated equipment.



High school diploma or equivalent. A familiarity with welders, punch presses, pressroom terminology, equipment, and processes, normally obtained in working at least 6 months to 1 year in a similar work situation. Must be able to accurately identify different types of raw materials. Must also be able to compute material and finished product counts using basic math skills and a calculator. Must be able to handle and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds as well as manipulate a wide size and weight range of metal stock and related materials. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and remain on feet for most of the workday. Safety Glasses, hearing protection are required throughout the area. Depending on your assignment you may also be required to wear steel toed boots, use appropriate gloves for material handling and appropriate protective clothing.
