Operator 2 - Special Test Operator

Vishay, Columbus Nebraska is currently seeking a full time Special Test Operator responsible for performing resistance reading on readout systems in accordance with customer specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receives parts to be read, checks production order for set-up, transfers the necessary information to the computer and calibrates the readout machines as required.   
  •  Perform GARD testing, 1st readings, final readings and compute and remove operation.
  • Must be able to identify equipment malfunctions and notify the Supervisor or Material Handler if such problems occur.
  • Equipment utilization:  Works with various Testing and GARD machines.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Under general supervision, proceeds independently in performing regular duties, referring questionable cases to the Supervisor or others according to established procedures.
  • Engaged in the Division’s Continuous Improvement Lean program, by providing evidence through the use either the JM (Job Method), 5s Audits, improvement on 8 types of waste.


 Assumes the ability to operate machinery and equipment, read blueprints and interpret routine production specifications. Repetitive or routine duties involving use of various procedures and the application of clearly prescribed standard practices which require making minor decision sand the use of some recurring judgment in the quality checking of work, identification of errors, or deciding when to request assistance.

High School diploma or equivalent.

Repetitive, continuous physical activity is required.  Light to three-pound objects is handled.  May involve prolonged sitting or standing and the manipulation or manual controls or hand tools.  May involve prolonged sitting or standing and the manipulation or manual controls of hand tools.  Good working conditions.  Occasion exposure to one or more disagreeable elements such as dust, dirt, fumes, heat, cold, noise, vibration, moisture or oil.
