Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Vishay Dale Columbus, is currently seeking an EHS Manager who would be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable enviormental, health and safety laws. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Works closely with the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Director to design, communicate, update and enforce the corporate environmental health and safety policy.  Communicates applicable federal and state regulations/issues.
  • Works with the Human Resources (HR) department to design, implement, communication and enforcement of the environmental health and safety programs.
  • Conducts periodic review/inspection/audit visits to each facility, reporting observations and recommendations to management.  Investigates and reports to management regarding environmental health and incidents.
  • Constructs and maintains current EHS profiles of each facility, flagging potential problem areas and possible out-of-compliance operations to management along with recommended resolutions.
  • Reviews proposed projects for feasibility and aids in selection and development of outside technical resources.  Develops approved waste transportation and disposal firms.
  • Coordinates EHS issues/questions/responses, and provides feedback to the various Vishay facilities regarding ongoing EHS topics and problem areas.

  • Assists in facility closures, site assessments and specific issue-related corrective actions as directed by the Corporate EHS Director or Division Management.
  • Conducts inspections and issues written reports regarding contracted Treatment Storage and Disposal (TSDF) facilities as required by the Corporate EHS Director.
  • Reviews and advises Vishay staff regarding corporate publications to include annual reports and any responses to regulatory agencies prior to submission or publication.
  • Responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining environmental management system, and reporting on the performance of the EHSMS to management.
  • Prepares and maintains written procedures to comply with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Conducts in-depth physical inspections of various facilities, within the Division and other facilities as directed by Corporate Management, to involve periodic extended walking, stooping, climbing, and the use of various test instruments and tools.
  • Acts as resource for employee EHS concerns.
  • Assists HR department with employee and supervisor EHS training.

Requirements: 

  • Five to seven years’ experience is required in an EHS capacity. 
  • As least two years experience within the Vishay structure or in a comparable manufacturing operation is highly desirable.
  • Initial hazardous waste management procedures (RCRA) training within six months of the appointment of position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter.
  • Initial emergency contingency plan implementation training within six months of the appointment of position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter

Possible PFT, and Initial DOT Training with refresher training every 3 years

This position requires access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations. As such, this position is open only to applicants who qualify as “U.S. Persons” according to U.S. federal law.
